One of the four children of Denzel Washington, Malcolm Washington is a lesser-known popular figure as opposed to his father who is an Academy Award-winning actor, producer, and director. Although a child with this last name/surname has mostly gained fame as the son of a celebrated veteran actor (Denzel Washington), Malcolm Washington is trying to work himself to success and making a name for himself like many of his siblings. The son of Denzel Washington and his actress wife Pauletta Washington is also the twin brother to Olivia Washington. Here are some facts about Malcolm Washington people don’t know.

1. He was once a top-rated basketball player:

Malcolm Washington went pro for basketball during his college days at the University of Pennsylvania where the son of the actor showed his talents playing point guard for his team. During his college days, he was very active in sports, and here are his stats:

2. Malcolm Washington’s childhood:

The son of one of the most famous actors in the world, Malcolm came into this world on April 10, 1991, in Los Angeles, U.S.A along with his twin sister. 

With regard to his childhood, he grew up as a celebrity child, to his mother, Pauletta Washington, and his father Oscar-winning Denzel Washington who are prominent Hollywood celebrities who began their careers around the 1980s.

Worried about safety and to go far away from the paparazzi, Malcolm was sent to a private school in Los Angeles. Then, he would go on to attend the University of Pennsylvania to continue his education. 

At the University of Pennsylvania, he pursues basketball actively but since the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree as he did graduate with a degree in film studies in 2013, according to USA Today. The son of the famous actor later graduated from AFI Conservatory, a graduate film school.

3. His mother was almost 40 years old when she had him:

Pauletta Washington gave birth to her twins, a son Malcolm Washington and a daughter Olivia Rashelle Washington on April 10, 1991 when she was 39 years of age.

4. His other famous siblings:

When Malcolm came into this world with his sister, he also had another sister and a brother. Both of his sisters, namely Katia Washington and Olivia Washington are pursuing a career in Hollywood where Olivia Washington even acted in the movies The Butler (2013), Mr. Robot (2015), and The Comedian (2016).

Katia Washington on the other hand started behind the scenes as an associate producer and has worked as an editorial production assistant, a directorial assistant in the movies Django Unchained (2012), The Birth of a Nation (2016), and Fences (2016). Her work has awarded herself an Oscar amongst other accolades. 

John Dave Washington is his brother and Hollywood star who was a footballer turned actor and producer. Some of his movies are Monster (2017), Coco (2016), The Book of Eli (2010), and Malcolm X (1992).

5. Following the footsteps of his dad:

Malcolm, like his father, is also into directing movies. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree as Malcolm has contributed a lot in the Hollywood industry with his writing, directing, producing talent (he gained fame for producing a short movie The Dispute in 2019). 

His other producing job came in 2014 when he was involved as the production assistant for the Jon Favreau adventure comedy ‘Chef’ which went on to be a box-office hit. Later on, Malcolm Washington directed a short movie where he worked as the second unit director for the movie “Trouble Man” in the Jackson Young short film. The next year began by working as an assistant to Spike Lee for the TV series ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ and continued working in the same position for eight episodes. After this, he was employed as an assistant director for the Marc Pannia short film ‘The Last Bookstore.’ Later in the year, Malcolm Washington also produced Summer of 17 which is a comedy-drama.

His crowning moment subsequently arrived when writing and directing his drama short titled ‘Benny Got Shot’ in November 2017. Next year he worked on the 2018 TV series ‘I, Too, Dream America’ which is a television series, as the director.
